AVAILABLE DAYS/HOURS
Hours of operation are Monday - Friday as noted - exact times may vary by location:
  • School days: 3 pm - 7 pm
  • Early Release days: 1 pm - 7 pm
  • Legal Holidays: 9 am - 5 pm
Students are expected to be available during afternoon and early evening hours.
BGCMP locations are closed on weekends.

DUTIES
Support daily activities throughout the club, including Power Hour - the club's designated homework time, by working with professional staff in the Games Room, Education Learning Center, Computer Lab, Art Room and/or the Gym.

Specific tasks include:
  • Assisting younger members with homework.
  • Tutoring small groups of members in reading and/or math.
  • Engaging  in social recreation activities (play games).
  • Assisting with sports leagues, programs and clinics. 
You will interview with Donna Martin, Volunteer Services Manager, and she will assist you in finding the club that will best meet your needs.

POPULATION SERVED
Youth members ages 5-12 years in underserved neighborhoods. This opportunity is currently available at various Metro Phoenix locations.

Member Demographics:

COMMUNITY NEED
Kids and teens need a safe place to go after-school, and opportunities to grow and develop to their fullest potential. This is especially true in the under-served neighborhoods that are home to BGCMP clubs.

COMMUNITY IMPACT
BGCMP provides quality structured, comprehensive development programs for youths ages 5-18 under the supervision of a caring, professional staff in a nurturing after-school environment in 13 locations.

Requirements
Background check, Fingerprinting
Requirement DetailsStudent must be at least 18 years old.
Have desire to help children.
Ability to relate to children in a positive, patient, sensitive, and non-judgmental manner.
Experience working with children ages 5-12 years.
Knowledge of youth development theory desired.
Ability to take direction well.
Ability to honor club's schedule and to arrive on time.

ADDITIONALLY, ALL SERVICE LEARNING STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE:

BGCMP Club Volunteer Orientation.
Reflective Essay upon completion of service hours.
Exit Interview.

BGCMP pays all costs.
Processing of the background report generally takes 2-4 business day.
Student may complete Club Volunteer Orientation while waiting on the background report. Orientation needs to be completed before service begins in the club.
